VISUAL GUIDE 1 / 3

Begin with the child’s findings, not a birthday rule

  1. Notice or referral

Describe the difficulty, previous findings and current correction.

  2. Assessment

Confirm what is happening and whether unusual early or severe findings need further investigation.

  3. Discussion

Consider suitability, evidence, family support and the child’s developmental needs.

  4. Follow-up

Agree what will be measured, when to return and whom to contact sooner.

There is no single start age that applies to every child, treatment and clinical situation. Do not postpone an indicated assessment while waiting for a birthday.Sources: [1] [2] · Open or save this visual ↗
