VISUAL GUIDE 1 / 3

Different ages, different questions

  1. Infancy

Use recommended professional checks. Bring concerns about how the eyes look or respond. Do not recreate screening with a home flash test.

  2. Preschool

Follow up screening referrals. A child may not recognize or describe unequal or blurry vision.

  3. School years

Ask about boards, books and screens. Make correction and learning support available.

  4. Every stage

A concern can need assessment between routine checks. An apparently comfortable child can still need referred care.

Examples of priorities, not a complete screening timetable. Ask the child’s clinician which checks and follow-up apply. Sources: [1] [2] ·
